Re: [PLUG] Computer Recycling Centers for Parts?

I was referring to an IDE Hard Drive and an External Hard Drive and Capture Device. The IDE Hard Drive I wanted for my PS2 to enable HDD Support (I would like one that's 60 GB or Greater)

Hi There

I was wondering if it's possible to get IDE Hard Drives and other Parts
from a Computer Recycling Centers or do they just destroy the parts?

If you go to recycling events it might be possible to get them from people
doing dropoffs but when I've gone I've reassured folks that I want
everything BUT the drives.

The recyclers are not going to sell used hard drives to random users
because they normally have a contract with the people and companies whose
computers they're recycling to ensure all data is properly shredded.

Might be more useful to indicate what you need, how much, and roughly why.
Some of us might have old ide stuff hanging around in the shed still.
Alternately, you might get suggestions of better ways to get things done.

Who's maintaining the Meetup for PLUG Central? The schedule there is
incorrect. Lyz's "Linux on Mainframes" talk isn't until July. June's
talk will be Charles Hathaway talking about YottaDB. Please update
Meetup so people won't be coming to the wrong talk.

The current schedule can be found at http://www.phillylinux.org/meetings.html
