[PLUG] [plug-announce] Tue May 12 - PLUG North - "Getting Started With Proxmox" by Adam Schaible (7pm online) |
PLUG North will be meeting on Tuesday, May 12, beginning at 7pm. Since we're all stuck at home due to COVID-19 we'll be doing this month's meeting online. Details are at the bottom of the email. This month, PLUG welcomes back Adam Schaible, who will be giving a talk entitled "Getting Started With Proxmox". Proxmox VE (Virtualization Environment) is a Debian-based, open-source server virtualization platform that allows you to quickly provision Linux virtual machines using KVM and Linux containers using LXC. It can be clustered across multiple servers in an environment, has a flexible storage model, and a web-based management interface similar to VMWare ESX. As powerful and versatile as Proxmox is, it's actually very user friendly and easy to install, which makes it a great way to learn Linux virtualization. A short demo will follow the presentation. We'll be using Jitsi Meet, an free and open source videoconference platform, for the meeting. You can access the meeting online at https://meet.jit.si/PLUGNorthMay2020 Keep in mind that Chrome and Chromium are the only recommended browsers. Other browsers might work as well but it's possible you'll have performance problem. Jitsi Meet also has apps for iOS and Android. If you decide to use one of those apps, use meeting code "PLUGNorthMay2020". To join by phone instead, dial +1.512.402.2718 PIN: 1333 6136 99#
