I have four used thinkpads, and have had good experiences with all of them. Only one of them has any cosmetic damage (and it was apparent in the images), and in general all thinkpads have replacable batteries. Even if you buy a thinkpad and a new battery for it you'll likely come out ahead. What I don't like to roll the dice on is Linux support. Drivers, UEFI, firmware, and more can be super spotty on a lot of laptops, and it's hard to tell in advance if you'll get screwed. ThinkPads, on the other hand - I'm running Alpine Linux, NetBSD, Haiku, and Plan 9 :) ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
