a coupla apps I like:

tilda - term that can hide and pop out with key combination. Lots of options

Keepass - password locker, no cloud

glogg - opens huge text files - does not edit

Falkon browser - small, fast

Signal - works on desktop too, encrypted txt, phone, video  - all platforms

OpenSnitch - app firewall
abiword/gnumeric - smaller word proc, smaller spreadsheet, not part of a suite 

fslint - finds dupes, packages, bad names, etc
Greentooth for android, in f-droid - turns off bluetooth after specified time
