[PLUG] Annoying Ubuntu/Win10 boot problem, update

OK, if I manually move the SATA SSDs to different ports, I can change it from correctly booting Ubuntu to correctly booting Windows 10, but if it successfully boots one it doesn't do the other. If Ubuntu fails, I get the minimal grub recovery menu. If Windows fails, I get the screen as described
saying "a required device isn't connected or can't be accessed."

Clearly, what I need to do is configure GRUB2 to point to Ubuntu as it does- correctly- and to the Windows boot location on /dev/sda1. Just running update-grub doesn't do it.

Thoughts?
