[PLUG] Partitioning nvme "drive"

I have a new 500 GB nvme drive and I am installing Kubuntu 22.04.
When it comes to partitioning I want a boot partition and a root partition.
The partition program leaves a 1MB "free space" at the beginning so it looks like:

- nvme0n1
-- free space   1MB
-- nvme0n1p1  ext4  /boot  biosgrub 199 MB
-- nvme0n1p2  ext4 /          ext4 499906 MB

Why the fixed 1 MB free space up front?
Will this be a problem with booting?

Thanks,
Eric
