I've been using Ionos servers for my Postfix eMail server. Been happy
with them since 2018, and my Debian 9 server is still going strong.
But they are shutting down an entire class of servers at the end of this
month, and mine is in that group, so I gotta migrate to a new server.
But... I'm having trouble getting my new OpenSMTPD server running so
I'm looking to clone my old disk onto a new disk on the new server as a
stop-gap until I can figure out OpenSMTPD.
I'm now trying to rebuild my old Postfix system on a new Debian 11
system, but I'm runnign out of time and looking for a faster quick-fix
to keep me running.
One idea is to clone the currently running server onto new remote
running server. I do not have physical access to either server, and
have limited ability to load an ISO file and reboot.
Right now, I'm creating an ISO of the existing disk and will try to dd
onto the new server, but I don't think it will work since the disk in
the new server has to stay mounted.
Any suggestions?
How can I clone a running remote server onto another running remote server?
TIA!
