Re: [PLUG] eMail Hosting

Get a free month trial from https://runbox.com - that should hold you over and in my experience, it just works after updating your MX records (or delegating a DNS zone to them). They’re cheap-ish too for long term things.

Google Workspace while great - comes with a lot of baggage and other config that in my opinion, isn’t worth the hassle if you’re aiming to do this for just a month.

With that said, if you do happen to want to go the container route, I can’t say enough good things about Mailu (https://github.com/Mailu/Mailu) or docker-mailserver (https://github.com/docker-mailserver/docker-mailserver) - I find Postfix/Dovecot and everything else way to fragile/unportable to run + a screw up or mis-configuration means I don’t have mail for however long - so I want something that just “works” out of the box but also lets me dig deeper into config files if I want.

Google Workspaces... It being Google is a big turn off for some, but the "corporate" services like this don't rely as much on ad revenue and so have a little bit more privacy.

I don't have any links handy to backup that claim.

As I struggle with my Saturday deadline, I wonder if there is an
inexpensive eMail hosting service that might get me by for a month or
so.  I need something I can spin up very quickly.

Anybody have any suggestions?
