[PLUG] Swap table, junk, and antiques [was Re: Anyone want POC||GTFO vol 1 (free/trade)? ] |
[ snip ]
I'm also thinking we could do a swap table at an upcoming in-person meeting, so we can all share any surplus books or gear we've gotten tired of. There was one at JawnCon last month and it was pretty cool.
Penth
+1 on swap table at a live event,
I also have books and manuals to cull -- dupes, or tech that no longer interests me. Old Apollo Domain hardware is too heavy to lug around, but I likely have smaller junk ^^^^fine collectible antique technology from the 1980s to 2014, I wish I'd kept larger workstations from the 80s, that stuff *is* starting to find a nostalgia market among wealthy retired boomer techies. Eventually even that horrible mini-VAX space heater / white noise generator that I refused to accept as a gift ??
Tangentially, and FYI, I have a friend who works for Bonhams art auctioneers, she sent me this:
safe jay pig photo of auctioned blue box, if you're paranoid, you
know how to open it in a sandbox. If not, wtf are you doing in
PLUG?
Friend in question made the mainstream media beyond 2600 / UseNix Journal etc, even has weak ee pee dia page, as do some of you, so their manufactured stuff, possibly even home brewed gear with hystorical context might interest wealthy tech adjacent wannabees.Reserve: $1,000 - $,200. Sold for $110,000 - does your friend have one?
This is just OSINT for yawl, you don't have to deal with me, or
Bonhams. Try your luck on YeastBay or AmaBeZOneS if you think you
or a relative has something with potential. Maybe even The 12th
Chair...
