Re: [PLUG] How to diagnose poor Ethernet throughput with Mint

At the end of the day, my regular Philadelphia electrician just moved my cat 6 cable away from my electrical wires, and everything is cool.  He even did the plugs himself, and it works just fine. (I'm getting something close to 1000 MB/s now.)  So, I don't think that cat 6 is as picky as it's made out to be.

That being said, it's good to know that fiber is an option if some situation arises in which there's no way to keep away from electrical wires.

Everything Mark said times 100. There's a couple of things I want to
stress again...

1) Cat 5 vs. Cat 6...  just do Cat 5e (no one should be running cat 5
anymore)
After hearing what Mark said and then reading all the stuff about
terminations on cat 6 and cat6a on the True Cable website, I'll just
stick with Cat 5e because it seems to be more forgiving.
