Re: [PLUG] Power consumption difference

The initial screen failed, was replaced under warranty, no out of pocket cost.

The replaced screen was replaced with a newer and higher performing version, (swapped stock ~2K/60Hz screen for the new 2.8K/120Hz screen for better image quality, scaling, and responsiveness), upgrade, ~260$.

The stock Wi-Fi 6E card has some known minor issues, specifically it does not have a regulatory domain by default since FW sells worldwide. It’s a simple software fix, but I got irritated when an OS update cleared the set domain and reverted me to 802.11n, troubleshot back to it late in the year, so I swapped out the stock RZ616 to a third party ath12k adapter, netted Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 support in the deal. Cost 36$.

I replaced the keyboard out of pocket for 100$ (the keyboard, touchpad and upper shell are sold as a unit due to key spacing issues between ANSI/ISO and regional variants, plus it’s a pretty big pain to separate them, but possible. I did this swap because the stock keyboard had a Windows key and the newer International version says “Super”. Absolutely not necessary.

Replacing the screen, wifi, and keyboard on mid-range laptop that you
described as "overpriced" after just one year seems potentially
problematic to me. To what extent were these upgrades vs repairs, and
how much did they cost?
