I don't know if you're intending to be funny or not, but just in case 
you're serious:

A. Not all electricity in the US is generated by fossil fuels.  I 
imagine that non-fossil fuel electricity generation will be outlawed 
soon, but for now, you can buy electricity that was generated by nuclear 
power or wind or solar.

B. Individual diesel generators are much more likely to be running more 
inefficiently than even a fossil fuel burning power plant.

C. Diesel requires the use of a massive fuel delivery system that isn't 
required for power plants.

D. Individual diesel generators require more resources for their 
manufacturing and distributing than do large-scale power plants.


This relates to the original post, in that I can't imagine any Linux 
users would be using Gmail, since one of the reasons for using Linux is 
to avoid data mining that comes with other operating systems, and Gmail 
is owned by Alphabet, which is arguably the largest data mining company 
on the planet right now.
