Waterfox (latest) 10 tabs open-only 1 active (YouTube)

Occasionally the YT tab will hit 300+ cpu. Cannot force it and doesn't happen reliably. All other tabs work except anything involving network.

No solution, but some thoughts:

I heard that YouTube uses a "different vision" of a set of standards, some of which are earlier and poorly-supported by Firefox; I think YouTube's choice is intentional.

I don't use it myself, but I thought that tabs were single-threaded.

When I kill the process everything is normal and Waterfox offers to re-open the tab.

Does Firefox have shift-escape to list its processes like Chromium does? It sounds like that's what you're using to kill the tab. If Firefox does have such a feature, I wonder if there is any breakdown in other processes as to what's going on.

This has to be a weird bug, given the popularity (however small; still significant!) of both the browser and its use for YouTube. I wonder if that distro builds with weird flags or options for Waterfox that's different than typical.
