Few dozen? Hardly. It's more a function of the amount of traffic being
generated -- case in point, about 15 minutes ago, I managed to generate
regular collisions on a network of 8 active NICs (I was imaging some
drives and someone got out of sync and was requesting updates). It's
around a few dozen nodes that ethernet can start colliding with fair
regularity. It mainly comes down to a matter of usage.
