[Plug] Newbie sound advice

I am running RH 6.0  and have been trying to set up sound.
When I boot Linux I get the following message.

/lib/modules/preferred/misc/sscape.o:
 init_module: Device or resource busy
 sound: Device or resource busy

I have an Ensoniq Soundscape VIVO.  To my knowledge I am using the
correct harwdare settings.

Any ideas would be helpful.
