Re: [PLUG] Moo-ha-ha.

Here's a link to the slashdot tidbit
http://slashdot.org/articles/00/02/17/2136252.shtml

I think it'd be interesting to see what would happen if the source
to windows was released, but I don't see it solving the problems with
Microsoft. What would the conditions of this source release
be? Specifically, would it be a one shot deal (Here's what we have so far,
have fun with it) or would they be required to release the source with
each
release? If they only have to release the source once then MS just has to
apply one of its favorite tactics to regain its power: make subtle changes
that break compatibility with other programs (or windows flavors if you
will). As someone posted on slashdot, Office is MS's real killer app
right
now. I'm inclined to agree with him. The source to Office would not be
released so MS can just make little changes here and there that make
running Office on other flavors of windows just a bit difficult. Picture
this:

	Microsoft Office 2005 Installation
Warning! You are running XYZ Windows. Microsoft Office
2005 will not function properly without the Microsoft Windows
	Operating System. Proceed?

You get the idea.
