RE: [PLUG] Through cell phone to Internet

it isn't so much what is says as what it doesn't say.

I would assume that a manufacterer would place the phone features on their
website. This one lists no infrared or anything that looks like it would
have the capabilities to connect to a computer. This absence is what led me
to my assumption.

Compare it to this phone

http://commerce.motorola.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=23967
5&prmenbr=126&phone_cgrfnbr=1&zipcode=

which is the new motorola timeport which mentions
------------------------
GPRS - (General Packet Radio Service) - provides faster wireless data access
that is "always on", typically more cost effective and allows for multi
tasking between voice calls and data calls

- and -

IrDAR Connectivity - no need for connector cables; with Infrared
communication you can up and down load between your phone and your PC

------------------------

or this one, which is close to the one I have

http://commerce.motorola.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=23968
1&prmenbr=126&phone_cgrfnbr=1&zipcode=60173

which mentions IrDA for connection to a pc.

That was the basis for my statement. For my phone, motorola provided
software for my computer. Unfortunatly, it only ran on Win98/ME (at the
time, it has probably changed). This was about a year ago.

hope it helps.
