[PLUG] debian gnome2 has broken buttons

I'm running debian 3.0 (woody), and I installed gnome2 (after purging
gnome1) and there are broken buttons.

That is, the buttons are a bit greyed out instead of having the wonderful
pictures.

Is there a fix for this ugliness?
