The $20 price tag got me to try the Belkin. The Orinoco has always been a want. I might end up with a Orinoco since the laptop is a pain to use without a wireless connection, and I discovered a another wireless signal while roaming in my bedroom.

What's wrong with buying a WaveLAN/Orincoco chipset-based card?

My Lucent-branded one has an antenna port at the end of the PC card,
and I presume the current reseller of the chipset (Proxim) is still
doing that.

They're a bit more expensive, but they're a lot better:
