I just downloaded the sarge netinst disk and it seems to be working: it
found my disks and my NIC's.  I was reading that the major upgrade with
sarge was the installer and it seems to be a vast improvement, at least
for me.

Someone had mentioned this earlier and I am sorry I didn't do it sooner.
