That actually looks like the error you get when file system support is
not compiled into the kernel. I would first make sure that you have SATA
support compiled into the kernel ( compile din not modules)  then make
sure you have all the correct filesystem types compiled in. ( again not
modules)  If you do have the correct paramaters compiled in I would say
try a second kernel maybe even the genkernel.
