That did the trick.  My "templates" folder was in a subdirectory,
which seemed OK at the time, but now my horizons have widened.

AbiWord appropriated the "templates" folder without providing
the means to open a linuxian format; it then mounted it in a
floating place so I could not tell where it was.

Nah. Just lack of planning on my part.

Next, I'll see how OpenOffice does at AbiWording my templates.
