Re: [PLUG] followup talk on ZFS storage roll-out

I would love to have an ZFS follow up, as well as a possible Btrfs discussion.  I've looked over the slides and I'd definitely like to hear about any quirks you ran in to.

As a related note, there is a PPA available to install a native ZFS module under the Linux kernel.  It's for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and also seems to work with Debian 6.0.3.  A colleague of mine has it running on a Debian 64-bit system at home for his backups and it seems to be working well.  Here is the URL to that PPA if anyone is interested:

https://launchpad.net/~zfs-native/+archive/stable/

Apparently you can also install Ubuntu with ZFS as the rootfs:

https://github.com/dajhorn/pkg-zfs/wiki/HOWTO-install-Ubuntu-to-a-Native-ZFS-Root-Filesystem

I would love to do this on my Debian system at home.  However, it uses a NAND SSD as the root storage device and ZFS does not have TRIM support.  So this is quite a turn-off for me.

I'll keep an eye out for a follow-up ZFS / Btrfs discussion.

Both ZFS and btrfs are interesting to me, so I'd take a talk on either or both!
