6544 Linux Systems Engineer

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Position Type: Contract-to-Hire (Temp-to-Perm)

 

One aspect of the project includes writing a dashboard in Ruby and for this role our client is in need of a Linux Administration with experience working in a development environment.

 

Position Requirements -

¬         Linux administration

¬         Knowledge of Ruby and/or PHP

¬         Ability to develop and write scripts for data integration and process automation

¬         Database experience preferred ( Oracle )

¬         Ease in communicating with technical and non-technical personnel

¬         Extremely detail-oriented and hands on

¬         Advanced level knowledge of Linux OS required.

¬         Significant application support background, e.g. Unix and Web middleware development and/or QA

¬         Participation in the testing or support of web based solutions or other enterprise software.

¬         Production operations experience a plus, e.g. Root Cause Analysis and process improvement.

¬         Familiarity with the architecture of modern enterprise Web applications: application server, and database (SQL and/or Oracle).

¬         Adept and comfortable working in a rapidly changing matrix environment required.

¬         BS/BA in a related field or equivalent experience is required.

¬         2nd and 3rd tier technical support experience in Jetty/Web/Java type applications highly desirable

¬         Must be able to work independently and have excellent written and spoken communication.

 

 

6472 Linux Engineer - Deployment

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Position Type: Contract to Hire

 

This is a contract-to-hire position.  The first project will involve working with a team of Java Developers and other Engineers who are developing software used in cable TV set top boxes. 

 

The team is responsible for all custom software running on the set top boxes and these applications “talk” with various technologies.

 

The Sr Systems Engineer will be responsible for -

           Overseeing the Linux systems

           Working with the Developers with doing new builds and deployment strategies

           Executing application and system deployments

 

Requirements -

           Advanced level knowledge of Linux OS

           Strong Deployment Experience (application and system)

           Solid scripting skills

           Adept and comfortable working in a rapidly changing matrix environment required.

           Go-getter and “get it done” kind of attitude – the desire to work in a collaborative environment and explore new solutions and technologies

 

Experience with Any of the Following is a Plus:

           Capistrano or similar tools is a huge plus

           J2EE application servers

           Java

           Python

           Groovy

           Perl

           XML

           HTML

           Experience working with Java Development teams
