Re: [PLUG] Article on 'cyberwarfare'

The concept of state defined enemies on the internet has always confused me. The "web" works because it is a web, not a small number of connections that are state governed. The groupings aren't the USAs internet and nation state X. There are too many interconnects and the whole system is a bust if we walk away from the open model. The great firewall is an absurdity. Between what points in the web would the state sanctioned firewall be put?

Most of the talk on this thread makes no sense to me. Am I the only one?

I do agree that corps are more likely to just push for the "license to
broadcast on the internet" approach.  They'll of course be able to get
them.

But, the fact today is that those big corporations have to jump
through all kinds of hoops to move physical goods over borders.

It will be interesting to see how this all develops.  I think that the
whole Sony debacle is just the beginning.  Unless countries start
retaliating with sanctions/etc to hacking attempts there is really
little to deter hackers in some foreign countries.
