Re: [PLUG] Basic network monitoring and link quality software

In the message dated: Fri, 10 Jul 2015 12:21:14 -0400,
The pithy ruminations from "Keith C. Perry" on
<[PLUG] Basic network monitoring and link quality software> were:
=> Quick question, since my brain is on other things right now...
=>
=> A friend of mine, due to some Comcast issues, wants to monitor his internet bandwidth- not just for availability but if possible, also for quality (i.e. am I getting the bandwidth I am paying for).
=>
=>

For monitor route quality (which can have a major affect on throughput, even
if there's adequate bandwidth), I recommend "mtr" with the "report mode"
option. You can run this periodically from 'cron', as in:

	mtr --report -c 3  interesting.site.fqdn
