Eh, it's not bad.  I use it at work.  At my previous gig we used
hipchat.  Same kinda deal.

The major value I think is that it's turn key and has integrations
with all kinds of stuff like continuous integration, monitoring,
task managers like trello, etc.

I still prefer using my own XMPP server, but struggling through and
managing all those potentially time saving, productivity improving
integration points is effort.  Effort that might be better spent
doing actual work like writing code for products and such.

They recently added video chat which we used for the first time today.

One really neat thing I noticed about it is it has the concept of
being away.  I went to blast a message out to @all on one of the
channels.  It said something to the effect of:

"You're about to send a message and alert to 23 people across 5 time
zones 11 of which are marked as being away/ sleeping - are you sure you
want to do this?"

So I changed @all to @here.  Which saved a lot of people from a
disruptive notification.

It also has pretty good phone support.  Nice when I'm on the go
and someone needs something quick.

I do dislike the privacy issues.

But that seems to be the way  these days.
