[PLUG] [plug-announce] Tue Feb 11 - PLUG North - "Remedial Math for Programmers" by Walt Mankowski (7pm at CoreDial)

PLUG North will be meeting on Tuesday, February 11 at
CoreDial's offices in Blue Bell, beginning at 6:30 pm. Directions
to the meeting location can be found at the end of this email.

This month, PLUG welcomes back Walt Mankowski, who will be giving a
talk entitled "Remedial Math for Programmers".

Have you ever struggled through a programming interview because you
couldn’t remember some math you learned in high school? Do you want
to understand some of the math behind video games and machine
learning? Want to brush up your math skills before taking some
online computer classes? Then this is the talk for you! We’ll take a
whirlwind tour through the most important math concepts in computer
  science. We’ll review:

  * Exponents and logarithms, and why understanding them is so
    important to writing fast code
  * The modulus operator and what it’s good for
  * Practical applications of sines and cosines
  * Linear algebra, the foundation of computer graphics and machine learning

At 6:30, prior to the main meeting, we'll assemble in CoreDial's
game room for shuffleboard, pool, and conversation.

The meeting will take place from 6:30-9pm (6:30-7 games and
conversation, 7-8 General Q&A, 8-9 Presentation) at CoreDial's
office space in Blue Bell, PA.
