Formatting controls like a normal word processor (NOT manually adding HTML codes to get formatting) I don't need all the super complex features of LibreOffice Writer of MS Word, but holy-moly, why is this program missing from the market? As far as I can tell, EVERY word processor out there emulates the terrible, confusing, awful design concepts of MS Word. Anybody got any suggestions?
That used to exist in MS FrontPage (horror!), though the HTML code it wrote was beyond terrible. Google "MS Frontpage alternatives" and there are lots of hits. And as you note, FP was a lot like Word, or as I call it, Turd. The original versions of Word were not terrible, except for the deliberately obfuscated proprietary file format. But I think all the MS Office products have been totally unusable for years now due to interface bloat. And their pretend open file format still sucks. Libre/Open/Star-office kinda work, but these days give me Markdown or Asciidoc for the win.
