Not to swamp those that are trying to help me, but I wanted to be sure that
all necessary info was here.
Thanks,
Peace,

Also, I have tcp/ip networking (10bT) set up using ip addresses from my
company's network. Their network resides behind a firewall, so my question
is, do I need to use the 172.xxx.xxx.xxx reserved ip addresses, or can I get
away with using the ones I now have? This is less important, but I included
it just as a precaution in case it may have some ramifications on this
situation.

Let's see that /var/log/messages file from where it starts ppp, to
where it
drops. :)
