This website is an example of the exact problem I'm having.
Although it shows support for a particular card, it does not say to what
extent.  

Does the driver support 1024x768, how about 24bit color?
This website, like all the others I have found, will not show the level of
support available for a particular card.

Is there a way around this problem?
