I'm not going to be too much help, but it sounds like a problem I had a few
weeks ago. I had somehow blown away the serial port. All I did to cure it was
go into RH's Configuration manager, and reassign the serial port to cua03 (I
think). I can't remember. I'm not so proud as if I had done it from the command
line, but regardless, it worked.
