Re: [Plug] lilo Partition entry not found
|
Ok a lilo -q will query the map file and display the information.
You can try lilo -vC /etc/lilo.conf and that should set it up. (as long as
you do have the right partition for win98.
If that doesnt work boot up with a floppy disk one that has the sys
command and run under DOS A:\>sys C: and that will set up the partition to
be bootable. (You can check to see if you have in the rootdir in your
win98 partition an io.sys and a MSdos.sys and of course command.com)
Then there is the one last thing you can do is lilo -U and then run lilo
-v again. This uninstalls it and reinstalls it. It may fix the problem.

:Subject: [Plug] lilo Partition entry not found
:
:My Sony Viao F250 laptop came preinstalled with win98. I nuked the win98
:partition and installed Linux. I then proceeded to install win98 from
:the recovery CD. This is not a win98 install CD so it did not over-write
:the mbr. I modified lilo.conf adding
:
:other=/dev/hda5
: label=win
: table=/dev/hda
:
:running lilo gives the message
:"Partition entry not found"
:
:I think the problem is in /boot/map. The lilo man page says that /boot/map
:contains the name and location of kernel(s) to boot. Since I installed
:linux first, /boot/map contains only the location of the linux kernel. How
:do I add the win98 kernel to /boot/map?
:
:thanks for any info,
:son
