Last I heard (and dist-upgraded), there were experimental packages of
4.0.1, but you have to put a special line in your sources.list. It's
possible that they could have moved the stage 3 (I forgot the URL, but the
X maintainer was going to roll out the 4.0.1 .debs in 3 stages) packages
into the main distribution.
