I would suggest, if you have a /home parition, back up all your /etc files
there. Then reinstall taking care not to wipe out home. Print out results
of 'df' before rebooting w/ installer cd.
You may need to recreat passwds for your accounts, but if this is a small
system, it shouldn't be hard. Anyone know how to automate the putting back
of passwds?
Note, DON'T PUT /etc BACK AFTER REINSTALLING. You will break things as
diff vers seem to change a lot. You can, however, use your old /etc files
as a template for your new config, just be careful to read notes on new
vers of old config files.
