After a break to do other things, I'm trying again to get sound
working on my potato box.
Redhat's sndconfig is available on woody but not potato, near as I can
tell. I haven't been able to find source code for it, oddly, although
I've checked the usual spots (google, freshmeat, etc.).
I'm not completely clear how to apt-get a single woody package without
having apt get confused and causing problems later on.
I'd be just as happy to configure manually if I can. But I've also had
problems finding a suitable sound driver. My card is (as per lspci):
00:07.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 [Apollo Super AC97/Audio] (rev 50)
Any idea what to do next? I miss my mp3 collection...
