[PLUG] how to prevent vi clear the screen

Hi All,

Anybody knows how I can prevent vi and less from
restoring the terminal contents when I exit the
program?  

I mean, when I start vi, view or edit something,
it clears the screen--which is ok--but when I 
quit it, the shell restores the original screen
before vi was started..its annoying for me.
