I seem to recall from the Mandrake mailing lists that you need to pass
parameters to kernel during boot (at the "lilo>" prompt, letting it know to
use hde. At least, that's my vague recollection from others, who wanted to
boot from Ultra/66 cards.

Something about telling it hde uses .. whatever .. IO ports that it uses.
