I noticed you're using two append="" lines in your lilo.conf. I don't
believe this will work as you expected it to. On the machine that I've
got an IDE CD-ROM and an IDE CD-RW, I use append="hda=ide-scsi hdc=ide-scsi".
Yes, that's correct, at least for my configuration, which boots from
/dev/hde (a secondary IDE controller on the motherboard - an HPT370).

Change the lilo config and re-run lilo. You should be fine then...
