More progress to announce found some postfix google resuts that directed me
that the problem is with postfix: postfix check fixed my problem with my
missing maildrop directory:
$ postfix check
postfix-script: warning: creating missing Postfix maildrop directory
I was able to send from mutt. Now I doubt this mail will ever make it back
to me - I haven't set up smtp to my ISP for the round-trip yet, but I hope to
get a bounced message soon...
