RE: [PLUG] WLAN Recommendation Please
|
I have used and continue to use Orinoco/wavelan cards from Lucent/Agere.
However, I have only really used linux in a P-2-P (ad-hoc) network setup,
or, connecting to a residential gateway. I can say with certainty that it
will work under linux kernels 2.2.12 through 2.2.16. However, I am using
the ISA adaptor that basically adds a PCMCIA slot to a desktop. I do know
of a PCI version of this card, and, my parents use it in newer desktops.

Subject: [PLUG] WLAN Recommendation Please
Has anyone used Linux as the router (access point) for a wireless LAN
install? If so, what card(s) did you use? I would prefer to use a PCI
mounted card and then mount the antenna externally using an extension cable.
