Actually, I'm pretty sure it will not go away until 2.7. The kernel devs
like to mark a feature deprecated for at least one release version
before removing it. But nobody is stepping up to really maintain the
code, so it may become broken at some point (especially if the userspace
replacement really kicks some ass).
