login as root and remove the old stuff that is in /tmp
ls -lt /tmp will sort the listing by time and date.
the oldest files will be at the bottom of the listing
do a "ps aux | grep dm"
this will tell you if xdm or kdm is running on your system depending on
what is installed. If neither are running, look in /etc/init.d/ for
either something like xdm or kdm.
/etc/init.d/*dm start
Look at the error messages. These will tell you whether you have a
problem starting the xserver or whatever.
concerning your dns you can still login to http://dyndns.org. After you
login you can update your stuff hopefully.
