Unix Systems Administrator - Greater Philadelphia Area
Location: Media, PA 19063 (15-20 minutes from Philadelphia)
Compensation: $35K (Junior) to $90K (Senior, FreeBSD)
BIGLIST provides email list management and delivery services to
businesses worldwide.
We are seeking an experienced system administrator capable of wearing
the many hats necessary in a dynamic, growing business. You will
be working closely with others to maintain and expand our system
of servers to support the millions of subscribers hosted on our
network. This is a full-time position with vacation and benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and optimize core servers and software.
- System design and planning.
- Monitor system stability and performance.
- Ensure 24x7 operation.
- Interact with clients.
Requirements:
- Multiple years of systems administration (preferably FreeBSD),
but junior admins with significant desire and potential considered.
- B.A. or B.S.
- Outstanding troubleshooting and critical thinking ability.
- Experience with high-performance systems tuning, particularly MTAs
and databases.
- Experience with installation and maintenance of rackmount hardware.
- Knowledge of common software packages like DNS, Apache, NFS, cvs, mrtg,
nagios, AMANDA.
- Programming/scripting ability for systems administrators (sh, perl).
- Ability to read higher level perl, php.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
