Follow up: Yesterday I configured the software to use eth0 for the LAN and eth1
for the Internet. Then, I swapped the ethernet cables. Other than one kernel
panic shortly after 8 AM today there have been NO INTERRUPTIONS in network access.
I have NO idea why that would work. I would expect the errors to move or change
but not to simply vanish. It makes no sense. No matter, I have a new NIC lined
up in the event it starts acting up again!
Thanks to all who replied.
