Host file works but a proper dns config in your dns server is a better solution.
Your dns server needs an A record for www.domain.tvd
If you are trying to acess it via a lan locally you should have A records for
www.domain.tvd.local
Again no expert here but a proper dns config will proagate to all systems using your dns server. Rather than patching individual systems with a host file. Though i'm sure our script wizards here could come up with a script to do just that in nanoseconds.
