from my extremely limited knowledge, this should work.
The optimal setup would be the mirrored port, as you mentioned.
I'd use wireshark.
And then pull my hair out trying to figure out what would be a good
filter(s).
PC should be ok (I think). I've done it with a considerably larger network.
I've never seen a FIOS router. Does it allow any monitoring?
