I'm an idiot. (don't everybody aggree all at once now ...)
I set the cron job up as root. Well, root is not set up to do
passwordless SSH into the other machine, which is the first step in the
script; only the vadmin account is. Once I set vadmin's cron up to run
the job, away it went ...
Can I start in on the beer now, please? :-)
