I highly recommend _Cisco Routers for the Desperate_
(http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Routers-Desperate-Router-Management/dp/1593270496).
Michael W. Lucas is a great writer, and while this book in not an
intro to routers or networking, it is written for the SysAdmin as a
"brief, meaty introduction to Cisco routers that will make a competent
systems administrator comfortable with the Cisco environment ... " and
is "designed to be read once, and then left on top of the router until
something breaks ..."
There are also a number of O'Reilly books, including an IOS Cookbook,
Nutshell, and various other networking guides.

"Microsoft Tax" = the additional hardware & yearly fees for the add-on
software required to protect Windows from its own poorly designed and
implemented self, while the overhead incidentally flattens Moore's Law.
