Re: [PLUG] curved monitors

I was looking for mine a loooooooooong time ago so I don't think its available anymore. Originally Monoprice was putting out a highly rated monitor that was under 1k but still out of my "I have nothing better to do with $800" budget. Found a no-name version (yes, less generic than Monoprice) and I honestly don't remember the brand. However, the closest I can find is https://a.co/d/0f9PoXMz Innocn 45C1R.

I do agree with Rich, there is a bit of an issue if you're editing photos and/or absolutely need straight lines. I will say that video editing on an ultrawide is magic, cause you can make the window huge and the timeline is real nice to work with, even with the "bend".

Hello Will/Chris,

Would you be willing to share the model(s) you have or aspire to?

I'm using a 27" 5k monitor now and I love it but would be interested in a wider workspace.

Thanks,

-morgan

I have had multiple 49 curved monitors over the years. I have to say... I can't use anything else as a daily driver anymore. I suggest avoiding them just because going back is not possible. Especially after taking advantage of the multiple inputs.

I have a 43 inch ultrawide curved monitor. This replaced 2 x 27 inch 4k monitors I was using side by side. The only thing I don't like about it, is that I should've spent a few more dollars and went with a higher resolution. It's 3840x1200@120hz and I would trade a drop in refresh rate to have 1440p. There was a bit of a learning curve (pun intended) when I first got it because it is ridiculously wide. Not having a physical break splitting two monitors took a little bit to get used too. For instance, I almost never full screen any window. It looks weird surfing the web that wide and it is way too much empty space. If you workflow is full screened windows (like Outlook/Thunderbird) on one screen and coding on another, you may have to adapt a bit. However, there are some monitors and software that allows for easier window management, give that a look too before purchasing.

Bit of a ramble there, but TL;DR I love mine. On the rare chance I do get some time to game, having that wide view is a ton of fun.

I need a new monitor and was curious about the curved ones.
Is there any serious gain? For the ADD folks?

Thanks.
